                                    Software Engineer, Interactive Technology
                                    Grant Way
, Isleworth, Middlesex, TW7 5QD

In this role I have had the opportunity to develop personally, professionally and technically through challenge and adversity.

Representing at various levels with vendors, customers and within the organisation:  from project Steering Groups and chairing project meetings; presenting to other business units and wider News Corporation.

Provide Technical Leadership and accountability for some large-scale (multi-developer, 1+ year) projects.

Working with tightly-focused and talented people in some very interesting problem spaces and on core technology that forms the interactive platform.

Achievements

§     Technical Lead for major STB project, virtual team of 7 developers.

§     Technical Lead for major infrastructure project, virtual team of 10 developers (18+ months, on and off)

§     Creating the VSOCK solution designed to fulfil low-latency multi-user applications on the platform, including “Poker Champions”.

§     Member of the Interactive Technical Review Board

2001–2003                    Sky Subscriber Services Ltd.
                                    Secondment, Technical Services
                                    Macintosh Road
, Livingston

Reporting directly to the Head of Technical Services my role was to provide tactical solutions to automate the reporting, customer issues and staff tracking problems that faces the contact centres.

At this time CRM was still under-way and there was little in the way of automated systems to support administrative tasks within the contact centres, my role was to fill the gap between their need and delivery by IT – often measured in years.

Achievements

§     Developed interim Sky+ customer management system to manage customer issues between Sky and outsourcing company NESN.  Development took two weeks and was in use for one year.

§     Developed “interim” Staff overtime management which has been in use for over three years.

§     Developed software to report on inbound calls versus technician call-outs to give statistics on on-line call resolution.  Report distributed weekly around senior management.  (Still in-use after three years).

§     Developed software to automate staff registers and to automatically balance lunch and tea-breaks across contact centres.  (in-use for around two years).

§     Succession Planning: Training others within the department to ensure the continued development and operation of systems and applications.

1999–2001                    Sky Subscriber Services Ltd.
                                    Customer Service Rep, Technical Services
                                    Macintosh Road

This was a part-time role which began with me taking technical support.  I was part of a, now disbanded team, called the “Super Group” who were overspill for all customer queries whether it be sales, turn-around, general customer service, technical support and even customer-care.

Achievements

§     Gained first-hand experience with DTH customers and the full-spectrum of the problems and queries they raise.

§     Develop a customer-awareness that is still fundamentally important to me and the way in which I approach my work.
